Colombian nationality by adoption is an option for all foreigners residing in Colombia who wish to acquire Colombian citizenship. To do this, it is necessary to meet certain requirements established by law and that are summarized in being holder of a resident visa for 1 year, if it is Latin American or Caribbean or 5 years for other nationalities.
Usually, Colombian nationality by adoption is requested by people who have lived in the country for a long time and want to obtain Colombian citizenship to vote and do different activities, but as Colombians.
