Topics of entry and Tourism in Ecuador

Tourism in Ecuador is considered a fundamental activity for the economic and social development of its peoples, Ecuador has a wide diversity in flora and fauna, is one of the 20 countries where the greatest diversity of the planet is concentrated, It has a varied gastronomy which offers different options to its visitors.


Among the main tourist attractions are:



  • Natural Attractions: Galapagos Islands, Cajas National Park, Baths.

  • Cultural Attractions: Historic Center of Quito, Half of the World, Historic Center of Cuenca, Loja and its International Festival of Living Arts, Handicraft markets.

  • Snowfalls: Antisana, Chimborazo, Cotopaxi, Cayambe.

  • Coasts: Manta, Esmeraldas, Salinas, Montañita.


With regard to matters relating to entry into Ecuador, national legislation establishes the following:


  • All persons wishing to enter or leave the national territory must do so through official migration control points.

  • In the case of minors, whether Ecuadorians or foreigners, they must do so in the company of their parents or representatives and, if they do so with a third party, they must have the proper authorization of their representatives.

  • The entry of foreigners to Ecuador will be made upon presentation of their travel documents: 1. Valid passport (with six months of validity); 2. Identity card or ID, South American citizens.


There are also certain countries that require a visa to enter Ecuador, because you must check if you will need a visa before planning your entry into the country. Currently according to Interministerial Agreement No. 0000003 this is the list of countries that require a visa for entry (This information may vary according to the migration policies of the country):


  • Afganistán

  • Angola

  • Bangladesh

  • Camerún

  • Cuba

  • Eritrea

  • Etiopia

  • Gambia

  • Ghana

  • Guinea

  • India

  • Irak

  • Kenia

  • Libia

  • Nepal

  • Nigeria

  • Pakistán

  • Democratic Republic of Congo

  • Senegal

  • Siria

  • Somalia

  • Sri Lanka

  • Venezuela (a partir del 26 de agosto de 2019)


Finally, for your entry to Ecuador, we recommend the presentation of an International Certificate of vaccination against yellow fever.


In addition, due to the global health emergency, a negative PCR test must be submitted less than 10 days before the date of travel.
